Things To Be Taken Care Of!
Here are some things people need to take care of while taking this trek as prevention is better than cure!
- People should be aware of the extreme ice conditions. The ice can be as dangerous at times due to cracks so you need to find the pathway to cross the frozen river.
- The ice can even be slippery so it should be taken proper care of while walking.
- The temperature is extremely cold and decreases further sometimes. This is why warm and layered clothes are recommended which would help in keeping the body warm and prevent the body from freezing.
- Hiking shoes or gumboots are highly recommended to protect your feet from ice-cold water. It is very important to protect your fingers and toes from extreme cold.
- You should avoid heavy meals during the trek as it leads to tiredness.

Basic Itinerary!
Day 1 - Arrival In Leh
Altitude3500 m
- Reach Leh and rest overnight in hotel
Day 2 - Acclimatization day in Leh
- Take rest and acclimatize yourself here. Very high altitude places or pass should not be visited.
- Sightseeing and visit to various monasteries like Shey, Sangam, Hemis and Thiksey
- Overnight in a hotel.
Day 3 - Leh to Chang Ma along Stok Village
Height:- 3,950 m
Leh to Stok Village:-- Drive 16 km, 40 minutes
Trek 5.7 km, time- 5 hrs
- The average level of climb
- Can refill water from the river
- Hot lunch facility at the campsite
- Night stay facility in the tent
Day 4 - Chang Ma to Mankorma
Height:- 4354 m/14,303ft
Trek 3.8 km, Time-3.5 hrs
- Easy level of climb
- Can refill water from the river
- Hot lunch facility at the campsite
- Night stay facility in the tent
Day 5 - Mankorma to Base camp
Height:- 4902 m/17,000 ft
Trek of 5 km, 5 hrs
- Average to a tough level of climb
- Till the first half, you can replenish water from the river and after that, there is no water point.
- Hot lunch facility at campground.
- Night stay facility in the tent
Day 6 - Rest day + training day
- Acquire skills in using technical types of equipment
- Information and arrangement for the summit
- Take rest as much as you can, don’t overtire your body
Day 7 - Base camp to Stok Kangri
Height:- 6151 m/20,178 ft
Trek 6 km each way, 13 hrs
- Reach on the peak by 6 am
- Arrive at Base camp by 12 noon
- You are served with breakfast and a hot lunch.
- Must carry sufficient hot water, there is only one water point at the glacier
Day 8 - Base camp to Stok Village
Trek 14km, 7 hrs
Drive 16 km, 40 minutes
- Water is available on the way
- You are provided with packed lunch
- Reach Leh by 5 pm.
- Then report to Hotel
Day 9 - Buffer day
- Buffer day is used if one is not able to climb to the peak due to any accidental circumstances.
- While a buffer day will be decided by the team and not by an individual.
